    Smart Technology

BRCC is a technologically advanced oncology center with a broad range of top-of-the-line screening, diagnostic and treatment technology. We use the RapidArc Rotational Radiotherapy to deliver the most sophisticated radiation technologies to the patients, including the Image-Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT), Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Cone-Beam CT Scanning (CBCT), On-Board Imaging (OBI) and Volumetric-Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT).

RapidArc is a state-of-the-art technology that allows higher doses of radiation to be given in just 90 seconds or less, reducing the side effects of radiation and making treatment more effective. By using RapidArc technology, we are able to target tumors with greater accuracy and sub-millimeter precision, reducing the treatment time, minimizing exposure of the patient to radiation and reducing the damage on healthy tissues.

    Automatic Contouring of Tumors

At BRCC, we use Smart Technology to substantially reduce the amount of time needed by our oncology team to develop sophisticated treatment plans, especially for advanced treatments like IGRT and IMRT. For instance, we use Smart Adapt and Smart Segmentation software to identify and outline the tumor and the surrounding structures to be irradiated or to be protected during treatment. The smart tools can register images from CT scans and other imaging equipment and then use the images to automatically contour tumors and the surrounding anatomy, making cancer treatments safer, more accurate and more effective.

Our cutting-edge treatment options, state-of-the-art facilities, patient-centric services and top-of-the-end imaging, diagnostic and surgical tools and equipment make us a world-class cancer center. For more information, visit the “Bay Regional Cancer Center” site.
